By downloading AdVantage (the “Software”), a product of Vomba Network Inc. (“Vomba”), you give permission to Vomba to display pop-up ads, comparison shopping results and coupons while you are online. The Software selects which ads and offers to display based on several factors, including: Web pages you visit, terms you enter into search engines and other online forms, content of the Web pages you view, your IP address and zip code, and advertisers’ targeting preferences.
Vomba is committed to serving highly relevant, contextual pop-up ads, comparison shopping results and coupons, while still providing consumers with industry-leading privacy protection. You may, however, receive advertisements which may not be contextual. The Software protects your privacy by uploading a database of content in small chunks to your computer and then determining on your computer whether to retrieve information from Vomba or third-party servers. To protect your privacy, the same database of content is sent to all of our users. The determination of which ads to display to an individual user is made on the individual user’s own computer and isolated from Vomba servers. In this way, Vomba is able to deliver relevant coupons, information and advertisements without sending all of your browsing activity back to Vomba and without establishing any profile about you (even anonymously) on Vomba servers.
Your privacy is also protected in the following manner:
- Your personally-identifiable information is not required in order to use the Software. Vomba does not know your individual identity and does not attempt to discern it in any way.
- Vomba does not assemble any personally-identifiable browsing profiles of you or your individual machine.
- Vomba does not assemble any anonymous machine-identifiable browsing profile of you or your machine.
The Software sends back to Vomba servers anonymous information from your computer so that we can keep track of the number of users in our network and optimize the performance and relevance of the ads. For example, the Software may send Vomba or a Vomba partner a communication that includes information about the Webpage you were viewing when you saw or clicked on a particular ad, the term you entered into a search engine or online form and/or your IP address or zip code. Vomba has intentionally designed these communications back to Vomba or a Vomba partner to be highly protective of user privacy in the following ways:
- Each individual desktop is assigned an anonymous, unique machine ID. This machine ID is used only to enable Vomba to count unique, active desktops in the network. The machine ID is not used to determine which ads to serve individual users or to create browsing profiles of users. All Software components will be removed upon uninstallation, except for your anonymous, unique machine ID, which remains in the registry.
- When ads are requested and/or displayed by the Software, impressions and click-throughs, including the factor (e.g., the URL, keyword, search term, IP address, zip code or some combination thereof) that caused the ad to be displayed are reported to Vomba.
The anonymous information that your computer sends back to Vomba servers may be shared with Vomba partners to improve the performance of the Software and to optimize the relevancy of the advertisements. Vomba uses reasonable commercial efforts to restrict the further dissemination of such anonymous information by such partners. However, Vomba does not control the activities of our partners and cannot prevent them from using or disseminating such anonymous information.
The Software makes use of session cookies for the transmission of information between the Software's windows. Session cookies are stored in temporary memory, are not retained after the browser is closed, and do not collect or enable the collection of information from your computer.
In addition, the Software, advertisers, and/or third party partners may set web beacons on web pages you view. A web beacon is a small file placed on a web page that allows a web site to count users who have viewed that page. Web beacons only track an anonymous identification number assigned to the browser. This allows us, our advertisers and/or third party partners to gather anonymous information for auditing and reporting purposes and to help measure and research advertisements' effectiveness. The anonymous information we gather from web beacons is never tied to personally-identifiable information. In conjunction with web beacons, the Software, advertisers and/or third party partners may make use of tracking cookies. These cookies are used only for short-term tracking of a user’s response to a particular advertisement and do not collect or enable the collection of any personally-identifiable information.
Vomba may institute changes to our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will always post the date of the latest version of this Privacy Policy at the top of the page. Your continued use of the Software constitutes your agreement to any future revisions to this Privacy Policy. We encourage you to visit this page from time to time to remind yourself of our privacy practices and to check for any updates to our Privacy Policy.
Our privacy policy does not apply to, and we cannot control the activities of, such other advertisers, third party partners, and web sites. If you want to know about the privacy practices of these other web sites, we recommend that you consult their privacy policies. |
